DES 5th Grade has been learning about Weather and the Water Cycle in science class. One portion of the unit was to research how to build a homemade water filter, design a filter, choose a design to build in teams, and work together to build them. Students then poured dirty water through their filters. Later, they will compare the results and discuss how they might redesign their filter to make improvements.

Parents and Guardians: As always the District will be monitoring the weather tomorrow (4/13/22) in order to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We will be ready to implement our severe weather procedures and transition students to our tornado safe rooms if necessary.

Thank you to Mrs Alta Lockley for coordinating the Food, Fun and Reading program for our preschool program and a big shout out to Mrs. Ana Hollis, Mrs. Vickie McLain and Mrs. Betty Ann Vansandt for presenting a great program on grains. The children learned about different grains, listened to a reading of the Little Red Hen , worked on some fun exercises and sampled a delicious healthy snack. We can't wait for our next visit!
