Last Saturday these DES Students ran their way to the finish line of the 20th Little Rockers Kids Marathon!
They ran 25.2 miles over time during our running club meetings and ran the final mile of their marathon on the last mile of the Little Rock Marathon race course!

In honor of Black History month, DES first and second grade Art students completed a collaborative installation for the school's hallway. Faded black and white photos of civil rights activists were enlarged, and pieces of each photo were divided among the students. Students outlined and colored their sections, then the pieces were put together like a puzzle to create giant portraits. Those featured in the display are Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges, and Maya Angelou. Students discussed the Civil Rights movement and how each of these people contributed, acted bravely, and made positive changes to society. The installation features the following quote from Ruby Bridges, "It is all our shared history."
