Mrs. JoAnn Cox is our Teacher of the Week! Mrs. Cox is our Junior English, AP Language, and AP Literature teacher as well as Beta Club sponsor. She has been teaching for 15 years. We asked Mrs. Cox her favorite thing about our community and she said "DeWitt and the high school take care of its own; whether it's a food drive for the pantry or the town bedecked in blue and gold during football season, we look out for one another. This is the first community that I've lived in that makes me feel like home." Congratulations, Mrs. Cox and thank you for everything you do for our school!

2nd Place, Jami Fluker, "Maya Angelo"
3rd Place, Orion Barriger. "Hellboy"
"Art lV students created portraits of famous characters using a variety of collage media such as cardboard, construction paper, fabric, paint, yarn, and metallic pieces. Students chose a quote from their chosen character to display on the background of their collage."

"Wrapped Animals" by Art lll:
1st Place, Magon James
2nd Place, Omarion Harris
3rd Place, Faith Rowland
Art lll students created abstract drawings of animals using colored pencil techniques. The animals were drawn with simple line, then cross contour lines. From there, students manipulated the contour lines to create the illusion of the animal having been created from wrapped ribbon or strips of paper. Colored pencil was used for color, shade, and contrast."

"Expressive Self-Portraits", by Art l. 1st Place, Katie Able; 2nd Place, Bethany Burley; 3rd Place, Haylee Brunson.
Art l students drew self-portraits using Contour Line.. Each student made a list of words that described them in some way, as well as words that express how they are feeling about everything going on in the world around us. Each portrait included a positive quote. Students used black sharpies, crayons, colored pencils, and markers to create their self-portraits.
