Congratulations to our DHS Teacher of the Week, Mrs. Michelle Black! Mrs. Black is the Resource Math teacher at DeWitt High School. She has worked in education for 24 years, spending 21 of those in the DeWitt School District. We are so blessed to have her with us. Also, today is Mrs. Black's birthday! Happy Birthday and congratulations again to a very deserving teacher!

Crissa Ahrens finished 6th in Senior Girls, Miranda Nelson finished 9th in Senior Girls. Jordan Brown finished 9th in Senior Boys, Chase Merritt finished 6th in Junior Boys, Harlyn Padgett finished 3rd in Junior Girls and Hartley Davis finished 5th in Junior Girls.

These students volunteered to help with Farm Safety Day at the Fairgrounds yesterday! We are so proud of our EAST and FCCLA students for their hardwork during the day to make sure everything went smoothly and lending a helping hand as they could!

Two presenters from Attorney General Leslie Rutledge's office came to speak to our student body this week. They highlighted the importance of internet safety for teens. Our students enjoyed the experience and we want to thank Leslie Rutledge for helping to inform our students!

The Grand Prairie Historical Society has a new essay contest that is open to any student ages 15-18. Any topic related to the history of the Grand Prairie region of Arkansas is acceptable. There is a $250 prize! Please help us spread the word by getting the attached into the hands of every student, teacher and parent you know. Essays must be submitted by November 30 each year and the winner will be selected in January. This form is also available on the website at grandprairiehistory.org.

Mrs. Carlee Curris is a math teacher and freshman class sponsor at DeWitt High School. This is her first year teaching and we are so excited to have her with us! We asked Mrs. Currie what her favorite thing about teaching was and she said “This may seem cliche, but truly I love working with my students. I love interacting with them, helping them understand the content, and learning from them. I love when they see the connection between what they are learning and their lives.”

Congratulations to our Teacher of the Week, Mrs. Cindy Ullrich! Mrs. Ullrich is our Family/Consumer Sciences teacher at DeWitt High School. She is also our FCCLA sponsor. This is her first year at DeWitt High School. We asked Mrs. Ullrich her favorite thing about teaching and she said “I love teaching because everyday is a new day. I have yet to leave school without being entertained by someone or something that happened during the day.”
