A donation of $10,000 was awarded to DeWitt High School Science Department. The donation was directed by Shan & Sabrina Rodgers, an Arkansas County farm family, through Bayer Fund America’s Farmers Grow Communities.
DeWitt High School Principal Rachel Mitchell said that the school was grateful for the donation as rural schools can always use the extra help.
There are already plans for how the Science Department will use the funds. The Chemistry and Biology Lab are installing dishwashers to assist in sanitizing and washing of science equipment. A slide cabinet to store slides is also being purchased for the Biology class. Several lab material kits are also being purchased for Physical Science. There will also be new microscopes purchased for the science classrooms.

America’s Farmers programs focus on agriculture education, public schools in rural areas and non-profits. They awarded $3.1 million in 2023 to schools supporting STEM.
