Our DES Activity Team is in the process of creating an outdoor learning space that we are naming the Pollinator Patio! This will be a place where students can observe pollinators and birds easily on school property! We are hoping to eventually get it certified as a Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation. In the spirit of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, before we purchase items, we are looking to see if you have items you may no longer want, but are in usable condition that you would like to donate for us to establish our Pollinator Patio. We are looking for the following items: Planters Bird Feeders Bird Baths Raised Bed Planters Outdoor Benches Lattice Work Water Hoses If you have any of these items that you would like to donate, you can bring them to DES and we will be glad to take them off of your hands. We are hoping to start putting together the patio early to mid April. If you have any questions email Mrs. Lindsay Beaton - lbeaton@dewittdragons.net

Ms. Quartisha’s and Mrs. Makenzie’s 3rd Grade Science classes recently studied different types of ecosystems. Students were able to break into groups, do research over the ecosystem they were assigned, and then use that to help them create their very own ecosystem within the classroom. They loved this hands-on activity and we think they did a great job!!!

Mrs. Ashley's first grade class has been practicing place value using base ten blocks! This is a great way to incorporate kinesthetic learning in math by introducing a manipulative! Introducing a manipulative, like a base ten block, allows students to use their tactile senses and feel the information as well as see it and hear it!
