Elementary artists are now showcasing a new exhibit in the hallways of their school featuring many DeWitt businesses and landmarks.
Students studied photographs of the architecture before drawing, focusing on the lines and shapes they could see. Then students sketched the buildings before making a more detailed drawing. Finally, the students were able to use colored pencils and watercolor paints to complete their work. All grade levels participated in this project, with each class working on a different location.
Art teacher Joli Holzhauer said, “Not only were we able to practice using some of the basic elements of art to draw these buildings, but students were also introduced to architectural design. My hope is that the artists will more closely look at what’s around them. Many were encouraged to go home, sit in their front yards and draw their own houses. Our environment is important, and I wanted this project to highlight a sense of community and school partnership.”

Please be patient with us this first week as we are learning new students, new vehicles and our students are learning new procedures. We know that things may be a bit crazy the first week, but we promise we are doing our best to get everyone into the school and dismissed in a timely manner.
Please make sure to prominently display the car tag with your child's name in order to help us promptly load your child in the afternoon.
Please communicate with your child how they will be going home each day.
Thank you so much for your help and patience, we will see everyone tomorrow!
