This month DeWitt Elementary School students collected a total of 11,084 items during the annual food drive for the community!!!! We were able to donate 6,835 items to the Caring & Sharing Food Pantry in DeWitt, 4,149 items were split between the community food pantries in Almyra and Gillett and 100 items were kept at DES for our Food Backpack Program! Our students would not have been able to do this without the help of their wonderful parents, grandparents and guardians.
This year there was an added incentive of a Pizza Party for the grade level that brought the most items to donate. It was a close race all month, but on the final day, with a total of 4,035 items, our 3rd Grade students won the pizza party! Congratulations 3rd Grade!
Each classes breakdown is as follows:
PK - 204 items
K - 506 items
1st - 1,517 items
2nd - 593 items
3rd - 4,035 items
4th - 3,941 items
5th - 288 items
Congratulations students, you all did a great job!!! We hope you all have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving break next week!

Tomorrow is the FINAL DAY of the DES Food Drive for the Caring & Sharing Food Pantry! We have collected so much food that we have already had to take two loads to the food pantry! What an awesome group of students we have at DES!
It is a tight race to see which grade will bring the most items - 4th grade is only 68 cans ahead of 3rd grade and 1st grade has moved into competition big time! The grade level who brings the most items will get a pizza party on Friday!!! But really, everyone is winning because we are sharing with others!
Grade Level Counts:
Pre-K - 202
K - 437
1st - 1473
2nd - 564
3rd - 2053
4th - 2121
5th - 286
