DMS held it's annual National Beta Club Induction Ceremony last night. We thank you parents and students for your investment in education and character of our future! Thanks to Ms. Seamon, Mrs. Barnett, the 8th grade Beta Officers, parents and new Beta Club members of DMS for a great evening!

This week the 8th grade students at DMS finished out the year with a very meaningful unit of study. Students have learned about the Holocaust through their history class and reading the novel Number the Stars which depicts life for Jews in a Nazi occupied country during WWII. On May 16th Mr. Chris McGee of Star City brought part of his collection of Holocaust relics to DMS for students to see up close and personal. Among the items was an original striped camp uniform from Dachau, a bar of soap made from human remains and ash from the crematoria, personal letters and papers from many victims that were sent to Auschwitz, and much more. Many students had their eyes opened to the horrors and atrocities committed by the Nazis during WWII.
Also, on May 18th students participated in a live Zoom meeting with Holocaust survivor Halina Litman Yasharoff Peabody. Students had the opportunity to hear her first hand account of living through these historic events and then had the opportunity to ask questions of her. This was made possible through cooperation and partnership with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C.
Thanks Mr. Dollar for organizing such fun and educational activities for our 8th grade students.

ACT Aspire Thank You's!! Thank you to anyone who donated goodies to our students. Thank you to the students and their parents for the extra efforts to be on time and ready to test. Thank you to our staff for pulling off one of the busiest weeks in school calendars. We did it!

Spring Fling Details! See you tonight!

Here is an updated list of the happenings at DMS through the rest of the year:

It's been a busy week here at DMS, but we want to show some love for our teachers as it is Teacher Appreciation Week. They have been treated with Sonic drinks and banana splits so far this week, and no doubt will be showered with more love as the week goes on.
Also, we honor Nurse LeighAnn on National School Nurse's Day.
Without all of these amazing people at our school, we wouldn't be the same. They do jobs that are some of the most important in the world! We honor them all, today and everyday! Thank you!

Reminder: The Dragon Football Program is hosting their annual Lift-A-Thon tomorrow after school. All football players need to turn in their money and forms to their coaches. The Lift starts at 3:30.
