GearUp came to speak with the Class of 2024 today during Dragon Period. They spoke to the students about what GearUp is and how the program was designed to help students in Arkansas. This program can give support to students transitioning from high school into secondary education. They spoke to our students about the importance of asking for help and support, planning for their futures early enough to make achievements an attainable goal, and how to help them adequately prepare to move on from high school. Mental health is a basic human right for all people. Everyone has a right to the highest attainable standard of mental. Good mental health is vital to our overall health and well-being. Yet 1 in 8 pepople globally are living with mental health conditions, which can impact their physical health, their well-being, how they connect with others, and their livelihoods. Mental health conditions are also affecting an increasing number of adolescents and young people.

DHS Art students participated in the 2023 Arkansas Peace Week Art Contest, competing with students all across the state. Two students, Sydney Purdy and Jannie Watson, were selected as finalists along with 9 of their peers. Their work was on display at the Arkansas State Capitol during Peace Week, September 17th-23rd. Congratulations Sydney and Jannie!!!
